    Church Starting

Below is some information about just a few of the new churches that are beginning their ministries in Greater San Diego. Click on on any of the icons for more information, or  contact us.

    Barabbas Road Church

On February 10, 2008, Barabbas Road launched in La Jolla, an area where most people have everything they could ever hope for materially. Pastor Matt Smith and his church are praying for creative methods to reach people with a message about the only thing money can't buy: true, lasting hope and peace through Jesus. For more information on Barabbas Road and how you can pray for this new church, click here.

    Catalyst Church

Catalyst Church is the product of Sequential Church Starting, a strategy that mobilizes a church planter and his team to begin several neighborhood churches, one after another. Planted by John Worcester, Catalyst will launch this spring in San Diego, with a goal to plant three neighborhood churches in 2008 and four in 2009. For more information about Catalyst, click here.

    Elevate Church

Elevate is a new church in the Torrey Hills community, located near both UTC (University Town Center), where more than 60,000 people live within a 5-mile radius, and the University of California in San Diego. Elevate seeks to reach out to youth, college students, and young families, with an overall goal to help transform San Diego. In January 2009, Pastor Kevin Campbell plans to launch Elevate as one of the first churches in the Torrey Hills Community. For more information, click here.

    Ethos

Ethos is a culturally-relevant, creatively-focused church that has as its focus to reach people who aren't traditionally reached by the church. As part of the church's introduction into the community, Ethos unveiled a four-part documentary film on friendship. Pastor Jason Page worked as a producer for various music, film and writing projects before envisioning Ethos, a place that values people as God's creations and as the ultimate expression of His creativity.

    Seven San Diego

On October 7, 2007, Seven San Diego held its first preview service in Chula Vista's Otay Ranch community. Meeting at Olympian High School, Seven is already reaching out to their community through creative means that are tailored to their growing neighborhood. Pastor Jeremy McGarity first launched Seven as a ministry of High Desert Church in Victorville, California. For more information, click here.

    Cross Church San  Diego

On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, Cross Church San Diego held their first official gathering in the Rancho Penasquitos community. After much prayer and fasting, Pastor Brad Graves, felt led to move from Springdale, AR, to start a new work in a major city. The ultimate goal is for Cross Church to serve as a church multiplication center and eventually plant churches throughout the region. For more information, click here.

    San Miguel Community Church

In 2006, Pastor Chuck Rheam launched San Miguel Community Church in Chula Vista's San Miguel Ranch community. Since then, the church has grown in weekly worship attendance, and its members are reaching out in ways that take the church to people in the community, rather than waiting for people to come to the church. Cloudbreak Church

Located in the 4S Ranch community in East San Diego County, Cloudbreak is dedicated to reaching individuals and the many families who live in their rapidly growing area. Pastor Jeff Langley is a San Diego native who worked for several years in the business world before attending seminary, returning to San Diego, and launching Cloudbreak. Ethnos Community Church

San Diego's UTC community (named for the nearby University Town Center shopping area) presents some unique challenges to the ministry of a church. Ethnos, a four-year-old church that meets at an elementary school in UTC, is meeting those challenges with focused outreach to a neighborhood full of apartment-dwellers, international residents and students attending the University of California at San Diego. Church @ the Beach

Church @ the Beach is an outdoor church plant that hopes to reach out to the surfers, skaters, college students, families, homeless, and tourists that are often found at the beach any given Sunday. Pastor Eric Maggio hopes to "bring Christ outside the walls of the church," by meeting in the public park by the beach. On July 6, 2008, Church @ the Beach will officially launch at Mission Beach. For more information, click here.
