What's in a Name?
One of the most frequent questions I hear is, "What is Vision San Diego?" The name Vision San Diego was chosen because the glue that holds a volunteer organization together is VISION. Let me ask you a question: What is the reason you serve in your church? Is it not because you believe in the cause cast by Jesus' vision to go into all the world and make disciples?
The problem is this: Pastors and church leaders are so busy that it can be difficult to keep the church focused on its primary purpose. That's where Vision San Diego steps in. Our hope and heart is to assist the churches and their leaders by coming alongside them with a clear vision that will excite the members of the church, as well as attract volunteers to come and help. We're partnering with our local association of churches, the California Southern Baptist Convention, the North American Mission Board, and others to see these needs met.
When we merge our efforts, God unifies our hearts toward His purposes. That's why Vision San Diego's newsletter is titled MERGE; we hope each issue serves to tell you how people in this city and around the country are combining their belief that God desires to reach the cities with an impulse to serve. We pray you'll consider how God might use you in San Diego.
Working Together,
Mike Carlisle, Executive Director of Vision San Diego
