After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. Revelation 7:9a
What does “ethnos” mean? When translated in Greek, the word means “nation.” To a growing congregation of 150 people, its meaning is also found in their church home, a San Diego church that has the same “nation” vision found in Revelation. Ethnos Community Church was a church started simply because there are not enough churches reaching the UTC, University Towne Centre, community in its ethnic diversity. Therefore, their desire and plan as a church is to reach a multicultural community as a spiritual community for all people.
From June 24-27, 70 children from all nations and languages stood together singing, dancing, learning, and playing, all in the Name of Jesus. Ethnos hosted a mission team from Atco Baptist Church out of Cartersville, Ga., to lead in a week of summer camp fun. This Southern team of 10 quickly learned about the diversity of San Diego. Lindsey, a young team member on her first mission trip said, “Being in San Diego is almost like serving in a foreign country because it is so diverse and has so many different cultures in one place.”
Established in the summer of 2003, it is evident that 
Ethnos serves a great need in San Diego. They are a multifaceted church with ministries of worship, community groups, and other programs and events, just like summer camp, to enable them to reach out to the multicultural people of San Diego. Yucan Chiu, pastor of Ethnos Community, says, “The week with the volunteers from Atco was appreciated and needed so much. The Word is true, ‘the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few,’ and we hope that seeds of goodwill were sown to enable us to utilize and then see some of these families become a vital part of the church community.”
