Why:
Military needs are extensive: personal, physical, emotional, family-related. Nationally, 80% of all military personnel returning from any combat zone, experience some form of Traumatic Stress Injury.
In San Diego:
The county is home to 500,000 active duty military and dependents. That means military families make up nearly one-sixth of the entire population. There are 41 different military housing complexes throughout the county.
Local Volunteers Will:
Engage in military ministry on several levels, beginning by fostering an understanding of military needs within their congregation. They’ll visit returning service members, create small groups specifically for military singles and families, and work with children and youth in military housing complexes.
Volunteers Will:
Work with local churches that are implementing a military ministry strategy. Opportunities include: servant evangelism (handing out flyers and goodies to promote local church events within the military community), special events in military housing complexes and chapels, and activities like day camps and holiday celebrations.
